William Lee Massey
July 5, 1929 – December 18, 2025
William Lee Massey, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born on July 5, 1929, in Los Angeles, California, where he began a life defined by faith, service, humility, and deep love for family.
William was a proud United States Navy veteran and a 100% disabled veteran, whose service to his country was a lifelong source of quiet pride. Following his military service, he played a significant role at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where he dedicated many years before retiring. His commitment to public service continued as he later served as a Captain with the San Bernardino Fire Department.
A passionate and skilled amateur radio operator, William was known by his call sign K6USA, a reflection of both his technical aptitude and his desire to stay connected and help others.
Above all else, William loved the Lord. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he found joy in planting seeds of faith and sharing the Word with anyone willing to listen. He loved to read, was a gifted storyteller, and had a natural ability to teach and serve. Helping others was never a duty to him—it was his calling.
Family was William’s greatest treasure. He was a devoted, hands-on father who remained deeply involved in his children’s lives well into adulthood. He was known for his caring and compassionate heart, his infectious sense of humor, and his ability to put everyone at ease. Always concerned for the well-being of others, William carried himself with humility, even in the face of a life filled with quiet heroism.
William is survived by his sons, Steven Massey of Manhattan Beach, California, and Daniel Massey of Torrance, California; his daughters, Debra Massey-Heimaster of Lomita, California, and Dayna Massey-Boughton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two nephews, John Massey and Jim Massey, sons of Jack & Jeanne Massey . He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 75 years, Donna Mae Scheunemann-Massey, as well as his siblings Jack Massey (Jeanne) and Robert Massey.
William was an active member of the American Legion and the Salvation Army, organizations that reflected his lifelong dedication to service, faith, and community.
His warm smile lit up every room he entered, and his legacy of love, faith, service, and humility will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
