Patrick Cromwell Quate, affectionately known as Pat, passed away on August 8, 2024. Born on November 7, 1939, in Richmond, VA, he spent the majority of his life in Pasadena, California, before finally settling down in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Pat was a dedicated and well-respected figure in the horse racing industry, having spent many years as a jockey. His career was not just a job, but a passion that brought him great fulfillment and joy. An Episcopal verse fitting for a man of Pat's character reads, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul" (Psalm 23:1-3). Pat lived his life in a manner that embodied these words. He was a shepherd at heart, always looking out for his loved ones and those around him. When he wasn't at the racetrack, Pat found solace in simpler pleasures like playing cards, fishing, and crabbing. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter Briannen Pryor, and his son-in-law, Mike. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Margaret Quate.
