Niko Blasjo Obituary (2021

We are saddened to share the passing of Niko Blasjo, a committed and loving canine family member, who was taken from us on May 13, 2025. Though Niko was born on August 18, 2021, his spirit was timeless, his energy boundless, and his love for his family immeasurable. He was a resident of both Kingman, Arizona, and Riverside, California, but he truly lived in the hearts of his family. Niko was a charismatic and charming soul who had a knack for creating joy in the simplest of moments. Niko was not just a dog; he was a companion, a confidant, and a friend. He loved barking at the invisible sugar plum fairies, engaging in his favorite game of "but but", or leaping over you on the couch in a game he fondly named "lords a leaping". His love for laying on the AC vent on hot days or snuggling in a loving lap showcased his knack for finding comfort in the smallest of things. But above all, Niko had a passion for eating, his playful eyes always lighting up at the prospect of a tasty treat. He was also incredibly intelligent, being crate trained and responsive to hand commands. As Anatole France once said, "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." Niko awakened and enriched the souls of those he loved. Niko was deeply loved by his owner, Shelby Blasjo, and held a special place in the heart of his wife, Baby Blasjo. Niko was also cherished by his grandfather, Brian Blasjo, and his grandmother, Loretta Lively. He was the epitome of unconditional love, adoring his chosen people deeply and fiercely. His dedication and love were the embodiment of the quote by Roger Caras: "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." Though our hearts ache with the loss of Niko, we take solace in the memories and joy he brought into our lives.
